Sub-Zero repair in Ken Caryl
Ken Caryl lies in a valley along the foothills southwest of Denver, and a great many of its houses open onto private trail at the back. What that costs indoors is paid at floor level.
What the kitchens here do to a built-in
- Back gates onto trail
- What is walked in on boots and shaken off a coat settles on the floor, and the floor is where a built-in draws its air from.
- Dogs that live half outdoors
- Sub-Zero shortens its own cleaning interval where pets are in the house, because hair mats across a coil far faster than dust alone.
What a vacuum reaches, and what it does not
The useful division in all of this is depth. The outer face of the coil is visible through the grille and answers to a soft brush and a vacuum nozzle, which is exactly the method Sub-Zero asks for and the reason it warns against chemicals and against leaning on the aluminium fins. An owner who does that twice a year is doing everything asked of them.
Further in is a different matter. Hair and grit work past the first row of fins, gather around the fan and sit where no household tool can follow, and the tell is indirect: a cabinet that sounds busier for more of the day than it used to, or a machine compartment giving off more heat into the room than it once did. Neither reads as a fault. Both are worth a mention when the panel is coming off anyway.
What we handle in Ken Caryl

If you cannot tell yet which of the four it is, start from what the cabinet is doing instead — that is the page this site is built around.
Asked about Ken Caryl
The grille looks clear. Can the coil behind it still be loaded?
It can. What shows through that vented panel is the front face of the coil, which is the part a vacuum reaches. Dust also packs in deeper, behind the fan bracket and between the fins, and reaching that is not an owner job; it is looked at with the panel off.
We have dogs in and out all day. Does that change the upkeep?
It does, and the maker says so: the interval shortens where there are pets. If the face of the coil has gone grey and furry since you last looked at it, ring Sub-Zero Appliance Repair Denver on (303) 729-0972 and have it dealt with while the panel is off.

Water kept collecting beneath the crisper drawers in our bungalow kitchen. The drain line was plugged with the dust our dry spring winds blow everywhere. He cleared it, flushed the line, and it has stayed dry.

Freezer half of our paired columns drifted into the teens, and softening ice cream was the first clue. Bad evaporator fan bearing, swapped from parts on his van, and he rechecked the temperature before leaving.
Shane O.Cherry Creek
Our freezer column sits in a back hallway of an old brick fourplex, and it started reading ten degrees high. A jammed air damper, once he got behind the panel. Working fine, but nobody called ahead.
